[The King’s Academy HIR Academic Writing Contest Prep Program]

 

본 프로그램은 Harvard International Review Academic Writing Contest 준비를 위한 국제 시사 글쓰기 프로그램입니다. 본 프로그램은 학생들이 국제 이슈를 분석하고, 논리적이고 설득력 있는 short-form article을 작성하며, evidence-based writing 능력을 체계적으로 기를 수 있도록 구성되어 있습니다. 프로그램은 다음과 같이 진행됩니다.

[Defense Day Option]

HIR Defense Day preparation은 본 프로그램에 기본 포함되지 않으며, 제출 후 finalist로 선정된 학생에 한해 별도 진행됩니다. 공식 사이트에 따르면, 제출 후 일부 참가자가 finalist로 선정되며, 선정된 학생들은 virtual HIR Defense Day에 초대됩니다. 따라서 Defense Day preparation은 finalist 발표 이후 필요 시 추가 수업 등록으로 진행됩니다.

  • Junior Contest Format: Grades 7–8
  • Senior Contest Format: Grades 9–12
  • 국제 학생도 영어로 제출 가능

 

[제출 마감일]

-주제는 today’s international affairs와 관련되어야 함

-diagrams, tables of data, authorship declaration은 단어 수에서 제외됨

-article은 analytically backed perspective를 제시해야 함

[Defense Day Option]

HIR Defense Day preparation is not included in the standard program and is offered separately only for students who are selected as finalists. According to the official contest page, a number of contestants are selected as finalists after submission, and those finalists are invited to the virtual HIR Defense Day. For this reason, it is more natural to offer Defense Day preparation as an optional add-on after finalist results are announced.

 

[Expected Outcomes]

Through this program, students will be able to:

-analyze international issues from a global perspective

-develop arguments based on research and evidence

-write a short-form article with a clear thesis and logical structure

-develop formal academic writing skills aligned with HIR expectations

-produce a polished article suitable for submission to the Harvard International Review Academic Writing Contest

 

Depending on the quality of the article and the official judging results, students may also have the opportunity to receive official recognition.
Possible forms of official recognition may include:

However, participation in this program does not guarantee any prize or finalist status, as final outcomes depend on HIR’s evaluation process.
